ABOUT US

About us

We moved to Menifters in 2020 and have begun a programme of refurbishing the cottages. The Helford estuary and the wider Lizard are very special areas with so many of nature’s delights on our door step there is much to see and do.

We love living here with our family and animals: Labradors Cally and her daughter Tigua, two slightly aloof cats Buffy and Diggory, Dick the Cream Legbar cockerel and his many ladies!

One of our first projects has been to rewild the meadow and encourage the return of butterflies and bees. Regular visitors every year are the Swallows and Housemartins – you will also regularly see Pheasants, Buzzards and other birds of prey.

The Helford estuary is an idyllic mixture of woodland, creeks and semi tropical gardens. It is known for its wonderful natural habitat with several protected areas. There are often sightings of dolphins and seals in the estuary as well as wading birds like egrets in the mud at low tide.

We love living here and look forward to welcoming you to share in the beauty and tranquillity.

Local suppliers

Wherever possible we always use suppliers from the local area.  Whether you are using the organic toiletries from Trevarno Farm in Prospidnick near Helston, a locally prepared meal in your freezer from Angels in the Kitchen or the beautiful handmade lampshades from our designer in Redruth.

You can order in advance some freshly frozen fish from our local fisherman Mikey or a local meat and veg box from Vincent Family Butchers in St Keverne ready for your arrival.

On arrival you will be welcomed with local clotted cream, homemade jam and freshly baked scones plus, on a good day, some eggs laid by our own Menifters ladies.
