THE RUM HOUSE

The Rum House

With rural views extending to the Atlantic and the Helford estuary, The Rum House is a stunning escape in an idyllic and quiet area of the Lizard peninsula. Newly renovated, it boasts a beautiful glass extension to make the most of the ever-changing views and with the bi-fold doors to the front you can bring the outside in or extend your living to the outside area. Indulgent and homely, it’s designed so beautifully you won’t want to leave. For a family of four or one or two couples it is a stylish and comfortable space adorned with local artwork and selective pieces that add touches of luxurious comfort throughout. The Rum House offers a quiet location to enjoy nature, local walks, peaceful country pubs and clear skies with space inside and out to while away the days.

There are two comfortable bedrooms, both en-suite and the second bedroom can be made up as a twin or a king. Both rooms are finished with style and textures that carry through from the living areas with the wooden beams, window seating and the selected pieces of furniture. There are pops of colour in the furnishings, drawing on the colours in the local artwork. The sociable living space offers a cosy living area with TV and electric fire which opens to the kitchen. Off the kitchen is the garden room with a dining table to seat up to six (The Roost next door sleeps two and is a great addition if you are looking for more space). To the front of the garden room is a second daytime living area with a sofa and two chairs to simply relax and take in the views and enjoy the sunrise. The landscaped garden offers a seating area and plenty of space for dogs and little ones.

With the footpath to the coast across the road and many inland walks, you are spoilt for choice to explore from the doorstep. The Helford River offers woodland, fishing spots and little beaches along the way. The nearest beach is Porthallow and the closest surfing and spot is at Poldhu, a twenty-five-minute drive away, where you will find a good surf school. Within half an hour you have Porthleven, a coastal foodie town offering many places for food. You can enjoy many places on the Lizard such as Cadgwith, Coverack, Kynance Cove, Mullion and a trip to the Lizard Point is a must.
